Forged by battle, they possess the courage to laugh in the face of death (Dau) and a plan to survive the encounter (Pfi). Perhaps their body is weakening or they simply lack a land of their own (Yun). In any case, they'll either attain power, peace, or fall to those who want it more.
Real life is filled with historic individuals that showed grit and determination in overcoming adversity. Usually their cause is promoted more than their personal motivation, but occasionally heroic moments stand out. Perhaps Audie Murphy is a good example here - a war hero that displayed uncommon valor and courage. He later struggled with physical ailments and emotional issues, showing classic conflicts.
