Gods Game Player Guide+Set Breakdown+Tech Era Set
The Tech Era is the third set with an emphasis on technical mastery, skill, and exploration. It asks the players to transform themselves yet again, this time into space-faring aliens marooned on the World of the Ledge. These aliens fled the fall of intergalactic civilization only to find this single, potentially habitable planet. They'll have to use their wits, advanced technology, and scientific know-how to survive. Whether or not these aliens are far-future humans is left intentionally vague - they're never seen outside of their exosuits - so we'll leave this for each player to decide. They know nothing of magic, attempting to explain the environment, celestial bodies, and monsters around them using hard data, logical reasoning, and/or the scientific method.
To the newly sentient peoples of this world, these refugees seem like gods, commanding magical powers beyond their ken. While some of the aliens might flaunt this, others may take it upon themselves to teach the primitive species their skills/abilities, uplifting them to civilizations in the next era. These skills/abilities won't be rivaled by native civilizations for eons, and include programmable nanotechnology, anti-matter engines/weapons, and quantum computing, among others. These technologies fail in the presence of real magic, which seems to be another form of high-technology to the aliens... at least as advanced as their own. As the aliens seek out the source of this magic/technology, they constantly struggle with both external and internal demons.
This is a medium-scale set based on the Wheel's tech-axis and adjoining colors, so Wim (Will), Pfi (Intelligence), Quae (Knowledge), Yun (Constitution), Jutu (Dexterity), and Glei (Perception). 100 cards of each color are represented (most as multi-colored cards), with 300 total cards in the set. There may be as many as 150 additional special story cards, likely the Greater, Main, and Lesser Gods of these colors. As a medium-scale set, card values range from 1K (common) to 1M (mythic rare) and the story roughly covers a period from 20 million years ago to 2 million years ago (or the evolution of the elder sentient races). Building on everything the players have learned from previous sets, it provides a new challenge as it naturally progresses the scale of the prior era. Physical and mental encounters are balanced, encouraging the players to develop their own skills and technical mastery of the game.
